From Rent to Roots: Turning Renters into Ready Homeowners
π‘ Our Why
In Putnam County, Ohio, we believe that a home is more than a place to live β it’s a foundation for stability, growth, and dignity. But for many hardworking families, homeownership feels impossible, despite their effort and commitment.
Weβre here to change that.
π οΈ What We Do
From Rent to Roots is a nonprofit initiative empowering families to earn homeownership through structured support, education, and dedication β not handouts.
This isnβt about giving away homes.
Itβs about creating a clear path β a bridge β to ownership through consistency and growth.
π How It Works
We combine affordable housing with a proven participation-based program:
- β Β Monthly Financial Education
- πΒ Budget Submissions and Coaching
- π§ΉΒ Property Stewardship
- π°Β Rent-for-Credit System
Each month, participants earn up to 400 credits through:
Activity | Credits |
---|---|
Rent Paid on Time | 100 |
Financial Class Attended | 100 |
Budget Submitted | 100 |
Financial Goal Progress | 100 |
π Up to 14,400 credits earned over 36 months
These credits represent real financial value β cash-equivalent funds held by the nonprofit, which are transferred directly to the title company at the time of home purchase.
π§βπ€βπ§ Itβs a Partnership
Tenants commit to:
- Attending monthly education classes
- Submitting household budgets
- Meeting quarterly for coaching
- Maintaining the property
- Communicating about challenges
We walk beside them β not ahead, not behind β to make homeownership not only possible, but sustainable.
π Our Vision
We are in the process of formally launching this nonprofit β working with community leaders, housing advocates, and national organizations like the NFCC to ensure our program is scalable, ethical, and transformative.
π¬ Join the Movement

This is how we break the cycle.
This is how we grow stronger communities.
